Tuba Soloist of the Valencian Community Orchestra

He was born in Ateca (Zaragoza) and began his musical studies in the band of his hometown, expanding them later with teachers Vicente Montoro, Miguel Moreno, Walter Stormont and Jens Bjorn-Larsen at the professional music conservatory of Teruel, Real Conservatorio Superior of Madrid and the Hoschule fur Musik und theater Hannover (Germany). Later he perfected his studies in Chicago (USA) with Gene Pokorny, Floyd Cooley, Rex Martin and Roger Rocco.

In 2000 he received the Honor Award at the end of his studies at the Higher Conservatory of Madrid and was awarded as a finalist in the “Citta di Porcia” tuba competition (Italy) 2004.

 

In teaching activity he has been a professor at the Higher Conservatory of Aragon and the Higher Conservatory of the Liceo of Barcelona. He is regularly invited as Professor of Tuba and Brass in the orchestras: National Youth Orchestra of Spain (JONDE), National Youth Orchestra of Catalonia (JONC) and Youth Orchestra of the Region of Murcia.

 

He regularly collaborates with the Madrid Symphony Orchestra, ORTVE, Euskadi Symphony Orchestra, Galicia Symphony Orchestra, Seville Symphony Orchestra, Hannover Sinfonietta, City of Granada Orchestra, OBC, ONE, Orquesta del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Academia Nazionale de Santa Cecilia of Rome, Teatro La Fenice, Munich Philharmonic, Danish National Symphony Orchestra.

 

As Tuba Soloist he has been a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Spain, European Union Youth Orchestra, Schlewis-Holstein Festival Orchestra, Gustav Mahler Jugend Orchestra, Navarra Symphony Orchestra and Tenerife Symphony Orchestra. In 2004, when Ricardo Chailly was chief conductor of the Milan Symphony Orchestra, he won the competition for the position of Tuba Soloist of said orchestra. In 2008 and under the baton of Lorin Maazel and Zubin Mehta he obtained the position of Tuba Soloist of the Valencian Community Orchestra, a position he currently occupies.
